Penguins in Suits

I just realised why it is I dislike rituals and ceremonies so much. Dislike weddings and church services, birthday songs and prayers, oh and royalists(!), and self-important people wearing expensive suits. And people blindly repeating a sentence uttered by some politician. It is that somehow it symbolises the very fact that we have no free will. That most people believe so deeply in the fictions that they just do. Do, exactly like all the other penguins...

Note: I do see the value in making certain events memorable. In doing something extraordinary and symbolic. But why do we not make out own rituals and ceremonies for those ocations? Why does it have to be the same old repeated and indoctrinated stuff, heavy with rules and silly conventions?
