Reading the World

The world is made up of millions of stories, intertwined and complex, but still just stories. Some people are the protagonists and antagonists of multiple plot lines, others of only the smaller spinoffs. But most are simply supporting characters and extras, sometimes even seemingly so, in their own plots.

And then there are those very few who see the world for what it is. The attentive readers. Those who stop to examine the book and see, that for this one, there is no one single author. It is all improvisation, gossip and fantasies. All made up, retold, repeated, for thousands of years.

The questions is, do those few readers have the power to change the story? Or simply to flip to the next page and read on till the end?
