Simulation-coherence and God

A lot of people seem to subscribe to the idea that our souls have "A god shaped hole". That humans seem to biologically need religion due to an innate longing that can only be filled by something divine. And historically it seems to be true, even so across cultures. Something that only us humans have.

It seems to me there is a much simpler explanation for at least a part of that feeling. If the human brain is a simulation machine that helps us navigate reality, we need consistent simulations to feel safe. Sometimes we hit a wall where we lack information for the simulation run a full cycle. So, to make it run, we fill the void with narrative instead. And when we do, the simulation can run undisturbed. Because as long as the simulation is running undisturbed, we do not feel the anxiety. It is not that we need religion, we simply need information.
